About Me

I spent my childhood in Zimbabwe until the age of eleven, an experience that gave me a deep appreciation for different cultures, languages, and ways of seeing the world. That early foundation shaped my passion for education, language, and the arts especially photography, which remains a creative outlet and a tool I often bring into the classroom. With over fifteen years of teaching experience across Asia and the Middle East, I enjoy helping students connect ideas, express themselves confidently, and see learning as something that extends beyond textbooks.

Area of special interest

My professional and academic background bridges languages, literature, and the visual arts, enabling me to approach education with both analytical and creative perspectives. Proficiency in multiple languages has strengthened my understanding of cultural narratives, while formal training in Visual Arts particularly photography has sharpened my ability to communicate ideas through imagery as well as words. This combination supports a teaching philosophy that values linguistic precision and visual expression, fostering students’ ability to engage with texts, cultures, and artistic forms in an interconnected way.

My Education

I earned my PGCE from Newcastle University, a highly regarded institution known for its strong teacher training programs and research-driven approach to education. This qualification provided me with a solid foundation in pedagogical theory, curriculum design, and classroom management, equipping me to work effectively within international frameworks. Alongside this, I hold a First Class Honours BA in Visual Arts from the University of London and a BTEC Higher National Diploma in Media Design from Cleveland College of Art, combining academic rigor with creative expertise to bring innovation and visual engagement into my teaching practice.

My Experience

With over 20 years of international teaching experience across Asia and the Middle East, I have worked in a variety of roles ranging from classroom teaching to departmental leadership. My career includes positions in British, IB, and Canadian curriculum schools, where I have taught core subjects, coordinated ESL programs, and led curriculum development initiatives. I have held leadership roles such as Head of English at Vietnam Australia International School, as well as specialist teaching positions in STEM, Art, and languages including French and Korean. This diverse background has strengthened my ability to adapt to different educational frameworks, manage multicultural classrooms, and deliver high-quality instruction that supports both academic achievement and personal growth.
