Head of Secondary Email:alex.metelev@misy.edu.mmAbout Me
I was born in the Far East of Russia, in the area bordering China, and a short flight away from Japan. After graduating from high school, I joined a prestigious electronics engineering degree programme. While in university, I discovered a passion for helping the underprivileged. I collaborated with the regional Red Cross, leading volunteer youth groups in a variety of humanitarian aid missions, which included earthquake disaster relief, working with orphanages on a number of educational programmes, as well as helping rehabilitate inmates at regional penitentiary institutions.
After completing my Bachelor of Engineering studies, I decided to pursue a career in Education, with a firm belief that it’s one the most meaningful and sustainable contributions to a positive change.
I hold a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the Open University in the UK, along with postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Education, as well as certificates in Teaching English as Second Language, Business Management and Computer Applications.
Area of special interest
I have lived and worked in various schools in Myanmar since 2002, both as a teacher (Mathematics, Science, English) and a Head of Secondary.
In my free time I enjoy playing and composing music, exercising with my children, playing chess, and coaching swimming.
