INFORMATION ABOUT THE ADMISSIONS' PROCESS

MISY welcomes students of all nationalities, backgrounds, and religions. Through the interview process, students need to demonstrate that they are enthusiastic about the school’s mission to make positive contributions to Myanmar and the wider world. Successful students also show that they will be able to thrive within the rigorous academic atmosphere which is a hallmark of our school.

The school has a highly regarded English as an Additional Language (EAL) support programme for students who are English Language learners; however, an age-appropriate proficiency in written and spoken English, is in most cases a requirement for admission into the Secondary School. MISY is proud that our Learning Centre @ MISY is able to provide additional support for students who follow an adapted curriculum.

Admission for the early years Nursery, Reception, and Year 1 are normally based on the age of the child. Admission to Year 2 to 13 is based on age and our own placement examinations and an interview with the relative School Heads or other senior staff.

Interested applicants should download the "Student Enrollment Form" linked below. All admissions queries by email should be sent to misy.mdy@misy.edu.mm.

For more information on the admissions process, please see the "Apply Now" page of this website.

Step by Step Admissions Process

  • Parents/Guardians submit the following documents to the school:
    • New Student Enrollment Form (see below)
    • Full academic reports from all current or previous school(s) from at least the past two years
    • Relevant medical information
  • The admissions officer will then respond by email or by phone, to confirm that the documents have been received and to schedule an admissions test (see #3) or Skype interview (see #4).
  • If in Mandalay, the student sits the admissions test. At this time, the school schedules an appointment to relate results of the test, schedules a full WIDA test if deemed necessary, and schedules an appointment for an admissions interview with the Principal.
  • If not in Mandalay, the student’s previous academic reports and--in some instances--a Skype interview with the Principal or Director will stand instead of the MISY Admissions Test.
  • If an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) or adapted curriculum is deemed necessary, then an ad hoc committee including all relevant staff is formed to review the admissions case.
  • The admissions committee, led by the relevant Principal, reviews all documents and makes the admissions decision.
  • School notifies applicant of admissions decision.

Admissions decisions may fall under the following categories:

  • Admittance into MISY
  • Admittance with Conditions
  • Wait Pool
  • Not Eligible
