Darren Harrison
Head of Primary Email:darren.harrison@misy.edu.mmAbout Me
I was born in the beautiful English countryside in northern England: Cumbria. I attended a local primary school and then continued my education in Queen Elizabeth Grammar School. After graduating with my Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from The University of Surrey, I then continued to gain my PGCE status in primary teaching in 1994. After a successful early teaching career, I completed my National Professional Qualification for Headship in 2004. I have a love of travelling and travelled for a year in 1998 where I visited parts of Asia, Australasia, the Pacific Islands and North America. This is my first international post that I am excited and keen to excel at.
I have two children: two sons. They are both studying in England with my eldest beginning his A levels and my youngest his GCSEs in September.
Area of special interest
Leadership at all levels: be it as the Head of a school or the youngest child in a class, each and everyone of us is a leader. I became a Deputy Head Teacher at the age of 29 and then a Head Teacher at 33. Age has nothing to do with your ability, it is your self belief and work ethic that makes all the difference.
This is my seventeenth year as a school leader and I enjoy the process of seeing the children and staff developing positively across their school journey.
